Rev. Leon Hall Obituary

 Leon Roy Hall was born on July 13, 1937 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Rev. Phillip Marvin Hall and Gertrude Vaughn-Hall, he was number twelve of twelve. He was raised in Annadale Baptist Church, where his father was the pastor.

He attended South Alexandria and Peabody High School where he graduated in the Class of 1956. He went to Leland College where he received his B.A. Degree in Education 1956-60.

Leon married Marian Bessard on June 27, 1959, to that union Terry Lynn Hall was born.

Leon later met and married Patsy Ruth Green on April 10, 1965, to that union Lyndell Hall and Levette Hall was born.

Those left to cherish wonderful loving memories are his loving and devoted wife, Patsy Hall, four children: Terry, Michael, Lyndell (Tamla), and Levette, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Leon’s spiritual life began in early childhood when he accepted and received the love of Christ and was baptized at the age of twelve by his father at Annadale Baptist Church. He was ordained in 1975.

After graduating from Leland, Leon became a teacher with the Rapides Parish School Board and retired after twenty years of teaching to achieve his other dream of becoming a licensed contractor, owning Hall’s Contracting Services.

He was very active as a civic and religious leader, dedicating his life to God and his fellow man.

In his work with the community Rev. Hall was associated with the following organizations: Southern Baptist Seminary – Diploma in Pastoral Ministry 1976-79, Retired Teacher Rapides Parish School Board, Former Cub Scott Master, Secretary of Acme Lodge No. 43, Secretary of C.F. Ladd Consistory No. 80, Secretary of the Year CF Ladd Consistory No. 80, Member of the Union Masonic Board, Master Mason, Past High Priest – Fidelity Chapter No. 47 R.A.M., Assisted in writing a $750,000 Weed & Seed Grant for District 2 Alexandria, LA, Help Planners, Inc., Help Organize First South Alexandria Neighborhood Watch, Past District Deputy – Royal Arch Mason, Past Potentate – Abduhl Temple No. 94, Shreveport, LA, Past Deputy of Budget and Finance Committee for the Imperial Council A.E.A.O.N.M.S.-P.H.A., A33 Degree Mason P.H.A., Fifty Year Lifetime Membership Acme Lodge No. 43, Chairman – City Wide Revival Five years, Treasurer – City Wide Revival Thirty years, Treasurer – N.A.A.C.P. (Alexandria Branch), President – Sunday School & B/T.U. Congress Dean, Member – Community Development Advisory Committee Alexandria, LA, Pastor – Trout Creek Baptist Church, Jena LA, Pastor – The New St. Mark Baptist Church Alexandria, LA, Pastor – New Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church Thirty Three years Alexandria, LA, Member of Educational Association Advisor to President – Assistant Treasurer.

With an undying faith, in his home, he peacefully took his last breath on January 17, 2020. He fought a good fight. He finished his course. He kept the faith. Safe in the arms of Jesus, Safe on His gentle breast. There by the love of Jesus, sweetly his soul shall rest.
