Leo Thomas Obituary

Mr. Leo Thomas was born in Ville Platte, LA to the late Orice Thomas and Amelia Fontenot Thomas on June 30, 1940. He departed this life August 16, 2020, 80 years of age at MatthewsMemorial Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Alexandria, LA.

He confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. Leo was a fun, kind hearted person who never met a stranger. He could say the funniest things that would have you laughing in tears.

He was preceded in death by his parents and was the last living sibling of nine children; preceded in death by four sisters, Ernestine Buckins, Irene Shaver, Alverta Phillips, OdellaWilliams; and four brothers, Orice Thomas, Jr., Irvin Thomas, Moise Thomas and Russell Thomas. He was also preceded in death by one son, John Thomas and one grandson, Christopher Deon Thomas.

In his early life, he met Victoria Petite Pye, who bore his first child, Debra Petite Hamilton (Silas, Jr.); later he met and married Marguerite Brown Thomas and to this union three children were born: Jean Veal, Leo Deon Thomas (Cindy) and John Thomas; then in later years he met and married Gladys Darby Thomas and to this union he gained four daughters: Terri Roach (Nathaniel),  Adreama R. Bessard (Rick), Tracie Darby (Darrell) and Kim Darby; also a step-grandchild, Terrilyn Garrett who he reared.

He leaves cherished memories to his children, seven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
